ANNOUNCEMENT: Dynastream Technology in Garmin’s Forerunner Foot Pod

August 17, 2006
August 10, 2006 (CALGARY) -- Dynastream Innovations Inc. is pleased to announce that Garmin, a global leader in GPS, introduced its Forerunner 305 Foot Pod housing Dynastream technology at the Outdoor Retailer Trade Show in Salt Lake City, Utah earlier today.

The Forerunner 305 Foot Pod was introduced into the Garmin Forerunner product line to allow athletes to train indoors where a GPS signal is unavailable. It is built on Dynastream SDM technology designed to measure each stride through a patented accelerometer based solution.

“The introduction of Dynastream SDM technology in a Garmin product speaks volumes to the importance of a non-GPS based solution for measuring speed and distance when training indoors,” said Andrew Skarsgard VP of Personal Monitoring for Dynastream Innovations Inc. “Our SDM solution is the technology of choice, even for leaders in GPS technology that want their customers to be able to use their products during indoor training.

Dynastream also contributed the wireless communication between the foot pod and the wrist receiver in this product, ANT+ Sport, a commonly available platform for connectivity and interoperability between sports accessories and equipment. ANT is a 2.4GHz radio solution which provides dependable high integrity data links on scaleable hardware platforms that are a fraction of the cost and power of conventional 2.4 GHz protocols.

“ANT is becoming a key component for many consumer and industrial destined products due to its low power and low cost functionality,” said Vicki Brilz, VP of Wireless, for Dynastream. “Dynastream is a providing a wireless solution that makes wireless communication more widely available.”

Garmin’s Forerunner 305 Foot Pod is on display at the Outdoor Retailer Show this weekend and is proposed to hit the market this fall.
